¶ Claim and Trigger Battles
The Claim/Trigger system governs how players fight for control of map tiles.
It defines when battles can happen, where they can happen, and what they mean for tile ownership.
There are two types of actions:
- Claim — Used to take control of enemy territory. Available only between 15:00 and 16:00 UTC, just before the daily regional battle.
- Trigger — Used for combat without changing ownership. Available any time outside the claim window.
Once per day, at 16:00 UTC, all ongoing ownership battles resolve.
Winners claim control of the tiles they fought for during the previous hour.
During 15:00–16:00 UTC, players can perform Claim actions to contest enemy tiles.
Special cases:
- Blocked period: The last 10 minutes (15:50–16:00 UTC) are locked to prevent last-second claims.
- Mystwood tiles: These have a shorter window, only from 15:30 to 15:50 UTC.
- Notifications: At the start of the claim window, the system sends reminders to prepare for battle — these messages are available only to players with an active Noble subscription.
Player Factions:
- Explorers — Independent players not belonging to any alliance.
- Grey Alliances — Groups without a fortress; behave similarly to Explorers.
- Colored Alliances — Alliances with a fortress that can own and defend land.
Tiles are classified as safe or unsafe, depending on their surroundings:
| Situation |
Example |
Allowed Actions |
| Safe tile |
Deep inside friendly land or protected zones |
None — no combat possible |
| Home tile (unsafe) |
Border tile belonging to your side |
Trigger battles only |
| Enemy tile (unsafe) |
Border tile belonging to another side |
Claim during claim window, Trigger at other times |
Safe tiles are completely protected — even your own home tile cannot be attacked if it’s surrounded only by friendly land.
Claim Battles:
- Can be started only during the claim window (15:00–16:00 UTC).
- The attacker must have at least one friendly or neutral neighboring tile — you cannot attack distant targets.
- Colored alliances must expand from their own connected territory.
- Explorers and Grey alliances can also use neutral areas like Taverns or Forums as launch points.
- Claims are disabled on protected or special zones such as campfires or safe domains.
- A Claim can replace an existing Trigger, but a Trigger can never replace a Claim.
Trigger Battles:
- Available any time outside the claim window.
- Used to test strength or harass enemies without changing tile ownership.
At 16:00 UTC, the system evaluates all ongoing battles:
- Claim battles decide who gains control of the tile.
- Trigger battles simply determine victory or defeat without ownership change.
The outcome depends on participants’ strength, alliances, and positioning — but only those who met the timing and territory rules are included.
Special Cases:
- Mystwood tiles: Their mysterious nature limits battle windows to shorter periods.
- Protected zones: Certain areas cannot be attacked at all until their protection expires.
- Inactive alliances: Members of alliances that have expired or become inactive cannot join battles.
Summary:
- Claim = Take control, 15:00–16:00 UTC
- Trigger = Fight without control, all other times
- Safe tiles = No combat
- Border tiles = Active combat zones
- Daily resolution = 16:00 UTC
